Lincoln County On Stage serves to further interest in the theater and performing arts through educational, benevolent and nonprofit community service directed toward the social theater and performing arts.

History

Lincoln County On-Stage, Inc. is a community theater headquartered in Chandler, Oklahoma. It was founded in October 1980 by a small group of theater enthusiasts who wanted to bring the magic of live theater to rural Oklahoma. For the first three years, LCOS had no permanent home. Rehearsals and performances were conducted in churches, schools, homes, businesses and parks. Eventually, however, the need for a permanent home became obvious.

In 1984, LCOS purchased and completely renovated the second story of the Crane Motor Company building located at 108 E. 8th in Downtown Chandler. Throughout the extensive renovations of the building, businesses and individuals donated money as well as goods and services. This was truly a community project.

On September 4, 1986, LCOS opened its doors with its first production, “Oklahoma.”  Lincoln County On-Stage continues to thrive today because of the dedication and hard work of local community partners, businesses, and patrons.  It is the only community theater in Lincoln County, and for that reason enjoys participation from all communities in the county.
